Even the elder people are more prone to it due to weak immune system. Body has its own defence system for fighting against urinary tract infections. Urine is acidic in nature, so it is unfavourable for the growth of bacteria. During urination, microbes are also expelled from the urinary tract which prevents it from going to the bladder and kidneys. When the natural defences of the body fail, the bacteria colonize the tract and cause infection.
The causes of Urinary Tract Infection are not much. A weakened immune system, consumption of low amounts of water, unhygienic living condition, and excessive sexual activities are the main culprits. UTIs are common and are not something to be stressed upon.
